Words convey images and ideas and are a source of great pleasure for the reader, that is precisely what I value in books.
From an early age I have received books offered by family and relatives, and I have never stopped reading since. It was of course before the television had invaded and taken over everything in people's lives.
In those days, books were able to
bring knowledge, enjoyment, recreation to many of us.
I discovered my first english book, Jane Eyre,
amongst the thousand books of an old and reputed
book store of a southern French city, that bookstore was for
me what any superstore toy section is now
for millions of English children...
But we seem to have forgotten that the language is a form of expression richer than pictures alone. Although I like computers, do research and learn using the Internet, I buy books, actually a lot, and even when I can read the same text on a computer screen, I enjoy taking the book to bed with me before going to sleep.
